Advice From Divorce Lawyers

Some advice from divorce lawyers that makes sense...

It seems like many people want a June wedding. But when winter rolls around, will some couples be singing a different tune? Superior Divorce Attorney Jamie Johansen says his clients can’t narrow down the reasons that send them from the alter to his office. “Sometimes it’s a matter of one party cheating on the other one, sometimes it’s just an inability to communicate, and sometimes it’s just a matter of parties not getting along. In fact, when I ask clients why are you getting divorced, often times the answer is there are a number of issues. They can’t narrow it down to one issue.”

Twin Ports Divorce Attorney Jim Cirilli says inexperience might also to contribute to a marriage’s unhappy ending. “The younger the people are, the more they tend to be emotional and high energy and the conversations get out of hand and they don’t know how to correct it. It takes a maturity to keep your composure and not push all the hot buttons that gets the other party nervous.” Cirilli says he often refers couples to marriage counseling. Some reconcile…some don’t. “Well, if anyone’s had a roommate, they know it’s not easy living with someone on a day-to-day basis. A marriage only works when you turn the other cheek and forgive and forget. The divorce process isn’t that way, but keeping the marriage going…you have to bite your tongue, turn the other cheek as the saying goes in order to make it work. You have to be forgiving.”
