Somebody's Daughter: Confronting The Lies Of Pornography

Among top marriage issues these days is pornography. Our Discussion Forums certainly give evidence to that.

I first heard about this "resource" on a Christian radio interview.

There's a new CD created ''for those struggling with pornography,'' and features speakers from Focus on the Family and Family Life, original poetry, scripture, and personal stories from men.

“I didn’t like it. But I needed to hear it,” said one anonymous male concerning Music for the Soul’s newest project Somebody’s Daughter: Confronting the Lies of Pornography.

Released in May of this year, Somebody’s Daughter was created, “for those struggling with pornography,” and features 18 inspirational tracks that include songs and spoken word content from Family Life, Focus on the Family, original poetry, scripture and personal stories from men who have successfully removed pornography from their lives.

“Pornography is ravaging the power of Christianity before our very eyes,” says Larry Malone, Director of the United Methodist Men’s Ministries in Nashville who took 2,500 copies of Somebody’s Daughter to their National Conference at Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana. “This CD personalizes the destructive power of pornography like nothing I have ever heard or seen.”

Somebody’s Daughter is the ninth project from Music for the Soul ministries, a Nashville-based not-for-profit organization whose mission is to create CD projects that deal with and confront difficult issues.

Recently, Music for the Soul director Steve Siler, who won the 2000 Dove Award for Inspirational Song of the Year for his song “I Will Follow,” made the commitment to pledge 100 percent of all lifetime royalties of the track “Somebody’s Daughter” to Christian counseling centers around the nation.

“This is not about me having another hit,” Siler says. “I believe so strongly that every Christian man in America needs to hear this song.”

Co-writer John Mandeville has also made the same decision for his song, “Free.”
