We recently interviewed Fred and Brenda Stoeker, co-authors of Every Heart Restored (from the Steven Arterburn Every Man series),
Increasingly, Growthtrac is hearing more about the devastating affect addictions have on marriage — particularly pornography.
The Stoekers shared research that says after a man is exposed to pornography for only six, one-hour sessions, sexual sin will begin to breakdown the hard and soft wiring of the male.
The husband begins to have less concern about his wife's satisfaction and sexuality and he begins to have a selfish view of what he's receiving sexually. As this begins to happen, that concept of passing intimacy back and forth during sex gets fried. He's not as concerned about passing intimacy as he is about gaining a strong intensity in the sexual experience. As that happens, he becomes broken sexually and is not able to do what God wanted sexuality to do.
Look for the Stoker's interview soon on Growthtrac.
When researchers examined the characteristics of couples who had been married for more than two decades and were fulfilled, one of the most important qualities they found was “faith in God and spiritual commitment.”
