Gotta Getaway

This past weekend I was talking with a couple about their upcoming honeymoon plans. Ixtapa Mexico in January! Sounds great!

Jealously aside, I was reminded about the importance (the necessity) of time away with your spouse.

For most of our marriage we were blessed with the ability to take separate mom-and-dad-only vacations. While extra vacations might be a stretch (especially if you have kids), you need to be creatively intentional about your time together. Minimally, a regular date night is essential -- just to maintain your sanity.

Even if you don't have kids around the house, finding quality time together can be a challenge. Take it from me. We're almost child-free yet it's all too easy to land on the couch, in front of the television most nights.

Guard your time. Be creative. Intentionally carve out time.
